Why Ethically Sourced Crystals?

We are aware the Earth body has been and continues to be our most reliant resource for the many things in our lives; clothing, food, water, electricity. Truth-seeker journalism tell us these resources are not always sourced with respect to the environment, the workers or their safety. The sad news is, the mining of gemstones tends to be no different.

Large scale industrial mining techniques and abuse of miners and their environment is on the increase. Employees can be badly paid, working long hours with explosives in polluted, dangerous and unsafe conditions.

Most committed lightworkers/pioneers in holistic health will tell you the healing they engage in is never for themselves only; therein a common understanding and tangible sense of the people of Earth being One and thus, to heal oneself is to heal All.

United in purpose for world healing, we do our best to live by the Divine laws of Love, Light, Healing, Compassion, Truth, Wisdom, Integrity… Part of the healing process, individual and collective is to confront the shadow within and continually revisit our belief systems, conditionings, values.

What happens when we witness action that is out of integrity, out of love and out of truth in our ‘sacred space’?

If, in truth, we as Lightworkers stand for the principles of Love, Light, Healing for All, then the realities of abusive mining practises is something we cannot ignore. This type of violence is deeply symptomatic of the systemic abuse of the Feminine and destruction of the Mother principle we see on Earth.

Crystals can remain in their purity, miners and environments can be respected.  If we make enlightened individual choices, those choices will influence collective results. Right supply systems can be developed; if ignited by consumer demand.

Artisan Mining

Artisan mines closely resemble the ‘Fairtrade’ ideology. They tend to be locally/family owned - supporting direct economic input back into the local community, involving few suppliers/dealers. It is entirely possible for many gemstones to be extracted from the Earth through Artisan mining with care and respect to all involved.

This Artisan mine shown exists in Maharashtra State in west India. This is where the Apophyllite, Heulandite & Stillbite retailed on this site are sourced from. the Amethyst, Cavansite & Golden Calcite are sourced from a smaller, similar mine in the same state.

Locally owned, licensed and legal, employing 120 local men year round. The surrounding environment is uninhabited and untouched by any form of pollution. The local community is supported through this enterprise, locally earned = locally spent. The supply chain is very short; once the stones have been chiselled out, our supplier buys and stores them till they are shipped to Ireland.

The miners enjoy a good quality of life as they make a good income from this work; being able to school their children, buy homes and land with their earnings. The only other employment in this area is farming so they are very happy to have another option! They work the hours that they please and in safe conditions.

Myself, my good friend Gráinne and her good friend in India now bring boxes of Artisan Mined gemstone treasures direct to you.
